BAG IT NIGHT

• September 9, 2009  was the date of Bag-It Night. An estimated 250 people were present - all ages, a true multi-generational service event. 
• Over 1,500 uniforms were organized, bagged and tagged for each student whose name was submitted in advance by his or her school counselor.    Each child received either one or two new uniforms, consisting of a pair of khaki pants and a navy polo. 
• School counselors came by the following day to pick up their orders and were surprised with a goody basket full of items - supplies which they often have to purchase themselves, donated by church members

• The Children's Closet is University Christian Church's clothing ministry for indigent children in the Fort Worth Independent School District.  
• This exciting outreach ministry responds to requests from school counselors who identify children in their schools as being in need of both school and casual clothing and sometimes school supplies. 
• Monetary donations to this ministry are used to buy clothing and shoes in bulk, to buy items off-season and surplus goods when available.  Clean, gently used clothing is also part of the Closet's inventory.
  

• Volunteers are the heart of this ministry.  Our normal weekday hours are Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  If you have questions about any of the opportunities offered, call the children’s closet at 817-927-0868 during the hours it is open.
• Donate your almost new clothing – especially coats and jackets.  Navy and white polo shirts, khaki and navy pants, and jeans meet the FWISD uniform code. Financial donations are much needed and always appreciated.
